Mother's Who Know!

Mothers Who Know Do Less

Mothers who know do less. They permit less of what will not bear good fruit eternally. They allow less media in their homes, less distraction, less activity that draws their children away from their home. Mothers who know are willing to live on less and consume less of the world's goods in order to spend more time with their children—more time eating together, more time working together, more time reading together, more time talking, laughing, singing, and exemplifying. These mothers choose carefully and do not try to choose it all. Their goal is to prepare a rising generation of children who will take the gospel of Jesus Christ into the entire world. Their goal is to prepare future fathers and mothers who will be builders of the Lord's kingdom for the next 50 years. That is influence; that is power.

I love this quote from Julie Beck's talk in General Conference! It is so true - that is influence, that is power! By small and simple things ladies!!

  4. This is such a simple way to live. That's what I love about it. It's not hard to do this so that makes me want to try harder!

  5. Hey Niki,
I loved that talk too! I read the Salt Lake Tribune article that raised a lot of ruckus about women who weren't pleased with Sister Beck's comments. To be honest, it made me like her even MORE to know that she has no fear of being bold and saying what needs to be said. I also like her a lot because she served her mission in Brazil. :) Thanks for posting that. Love, Katie

  6. I think it really speaks to those of us who ever have a hard time being at home full time...I know I do. I always knew I wanted children, but I also wanted a career. At some point, I realized that I couldn't do both well; one or the other would have to give and I certainly did not want that for my kids to have to give for my career. It makes me feel so good for someone to tell me I made the right decision, even though I know I did. I love that she praised women who don't "try" to have it all because I really don't think you CAN have it all... And people (you and your children) end up suffering when you do try. People can get mad all they want-its a hard truth and it definitly cuts. It cuts me, and that's how I know its true.
