Miracles!

Last year I talked a lot about believing in miracles.

Here is mine! She just had another MRI and she's still cancer free!!

There are things that I will never forget about the time that I spent with Rachel in the hospital. There was one night in particular that is forever etched in my memory. Rachel had been so stubborn and resilient. She wouldn't hardly let me hold her or comfort her in any way. You may even remember her famous quote, "I hate service!" One night, we ordered a huge piece of chocolate cake. I hoisted my big belly up onto her bed and she obliged. We sat eating chocolate cake (maybe Rachel's favorite thing of all time) and watching Enchanted. We giggled and cuddled and stuffed ourselves like any good girl should in a crisis. Then, she finally relented. She tilted her head and rested it on my shoulder and fell asleep in my arms. I was so uncomfortable, cramped in a hospital bed on my back with my six month pregnant belly and extra weight. I wouldn't have moved for the world. My sweet little girl had finally let me take care of her and I wasn't about to let it go. We got to spend so much time together in waiting rooms and drives downtown. I really neglected my other children during that time and I will be forever grateful for good friends and family who stepped up to the plate and loved my kids when I couldn't be there. We formed a special bond she and I. The funny thing is, I think I relied on her strength more than she relied on mine. I love this little girl and I thank a loving Father in Heaven every day that she is here with me. Here's to another great year!
