Who am I?

~I am your constant companion.
~I am your greatest helper or heaviest burden.
~I will push you onward or drag you down to failure.
~I am completely at your command.
~Half of the things you do might as well just be turned over to me and I will be able to do them quickly and correctly.
~I am easily managed, you must merely be firm with me.
~Show me exactly how you want something to be done and after a few lessons, I will do it automatically.
~I am the servant of all great people and, alas, of all failures as well.
~Those who are great, I have made great.
~Those who are failures, I have made failures.
~ I am not a machine, though I work with all the precision of a machine plus the intelligence of a person.
~ You may run me for profit or run me for ruin - it makes no difference to me.
~ Take me, train me, be firm with me, and I will place the world at your feet.
~Be easy with me and I will destroy you.
Who am I?
I am a habit!

I love this quote! I am trying to establish some very important habits at the moment! I need help! Any advice is welcome.

I am going to try to go to bed earlier! It is so hard to give up those quiet nights to sleep!

I'm going to try to read scriptures every day. Any advice from any of you as far as when to do this and what has worked for you please share.

Exercise! I hate this one! I love to dance and that is what I always did in my days before kids. I have found it really hard to work out just for the sake of working out. Please help! I know all of you dancers out there must know what I mean. What have you done to get over the boredom of working out when you are used the creative high of dance??

  1. Hi Niki!
    I liked this post!
I think the key to working out is having an outfit like the one in the picture. The rest will fall into place. :)
You already seem like you have your act together!! You're awesome!Love, Katie

  2. Hey Nik, I wouldn't say I am or was a dancer per say, but something I do for exercise and have come to love is running, especially while talking with a friend. I invested in a really good jogger and take my kids out nearly every morning. They love it and I love it surprisingly. Not highly creative though, but I enjoy the challenge of pushing myself further than I think I can go. Cute workout clothes work too :) With scripture reading, I always do it at night after my kids have gone to bed. That time works best for me. Love you, what an awesome experience you had in Atlanta! That's really neat!

  3. Hey Nik- I'm no dancer but I just bought this really great book! It's called Making the Cut by Julian Michael's. She is the trainer from The Biggest Loser! I have come to really enjoy my days I get to workout! It has been nice because I go to a gym that has daycare! Anyway I love this book, it has some really great workouts in it! Good Luck!

  4. We have all the same goals so I'll be reading these comments for any advice I can steal. And, I've almost convinced myself to start working out, almost. Now if I could just find a time to do it...

  5. Nik-
I know exactly how you feel about the dance vs. working out thing. What happened to that class you went to? You sounded so refreshed by it- nothing is as freeing as dance... so I would try and just do that but if you can't I would find a buddy that is fun and can really push you to work out with. That makes all the difference. I'm working out with Zoraya right now and she is so fun and so tiny but tough!! Wow that girl kicks my booty every other morning! Every goal is easier if you feel like you have a support group- a cheering section. Mark and I have been thinking of starting a separate blog all about new year's resolutions and help everyone stay motivated... it hasn't quite happened yet but.. anyway, I hear you about going to bed early... I can't seem to do it!!

  6. I really can't help you out on the exercise deal, but i know exactly what you mean. I hate hate hate working out, me and Justin have had a gym pass for two years, and i have officially gone four times. dance was so much more fun. If you lived here we could go to dance classes and be the bad ones in the back, but atleast it would be exercise right!!!

  8. My name is Kylie, a friend of Barb Elder...I compelety understand the excersize drama! I have been a ballet dancer for years and get so frustrated with how boring excersize is...so my solution i do pilates..either with a trainer or at my house. It gives the same benefits of ballet...same body type and muscle toning...and it is fun when you turn the music up! give it a try!
